Description

William Heaton Cooper was the son of Alfred Heaton Cooper but it was not long before he eclipsed the reputation of his father. His style of mountain painting is more stylised than his father’s, deceptively simple and more popular – many of his paintings were reproduced as prints. He was fascinated by the changing light of the Lakes, and through his painting he managed to suggest a sense of both the serenity and the endurance of the landscape.
