Pastel on coloured paper Provenance: Artist’s Estate
Wardle was just 16 when he exhibited his first picture at the Royal Academy. By 1936 he had exhibited more than 100 works. He worked in all media but excelled at pastels and was elected to the Pastel Society in 1911.
He made many sketches at London Zoo, particularly of the big cats. He was also well known for dogs, particularly terriers.
