Meninsky was a fine draftsman and a master of the female form. Indeed he was probably best known as a figure painter. This sketch (from his estate) shows the ease with which he could draw from life. Meninsky studied at both the Royal Academy and the Slade. His work is in the collections of the Tate Gallery, the V&A, The British Museum and the Imperial War Museum.
